All-inclusives


First Choice: lead-in for all-inclusive packages is £339 for seven nights’ three-star accommodation in Monastir/Skanes. The price includes a charter flight from Gatwick and unlimited local brands of alcohol and soft drinks.


Thomson: lead-in for seven-nights three-star all-inclusive accommodation in Monastir is £389 in May. The price includes charter flights from Luton.


Club Med: lead-in is £377 for a seven-night package in a two-star holiday village. The price includes a flight (chartered or scheduled depending on departure date), full board including wine with meals, water sports, and entertainment programme.


Safaris


First Choice: a six-night safari tour for summer ’99 costs £479, based on three-star accommodation, and full board. Transport in the Sahara desert is in an air-conditioned landcruiser. The tour takes in the Roman colosseum at El Djem and the troglodyte caves of Matmata. The product is available as an add-on to a beach stay.


Sunworld: Sunworld has introduced a seven-night Tunisian Discovery Coach Tour for summer ’99. At £469, the price includes a charter flight from Gatwick and full board accommodation. It takes in the capital Tunis, Saharan oases and the island of Djerba in the south.


Thomson: for winter 1999, Thomson is offering a four-night jeep safari in the Sahara desert. The tour costs £150 and is available as an add-on to a beach holiday. Included in the deal is three-star hotel accommodation and full board. The tour visits the site where scenes from the forthcoming Star Wars film were shot.


Wigmore Holidays: a seven-night Roman Tunisia tour for those interested in archaeology. The tour leads in at around £620, including flights from Heathrow to Tunis with Tunisair, a guide, as well as a mixture of half and full board in four-star accommodation. The tour takes in Roman remains at Dougga, El Jem and Sbeitla. Departures are in January, February, and March 2000.
