Travelflex unveils new Windows-based system

A NEW front and back office Windows-based system for business travel and retail agents called Discovery 7 was launched at Business Travel ’99.

The software was developed over the last few years by London-based company Travelflex, which was set up last June.

The system has already been taken on by six business travel agencies, including Seaforths Travel and Apollo Business Travel, which is part of the Globus Group.

Travelflex operations director Ian Speller said the system’s key strength is that it has been designed for the travel industry.

He claimed products currently on the market do not specifically meet the needs of travel agents.

“We are coming into a market that has limitations. There are a lot of systems out there, but they have under delivered, for instance by taking longer than it took manually to do a job. They are not working for the agent,”he said. “Discovery 7 uses our knowledge of the UK travel industry to address UK requirements.”

He said new features can be added swiftly to meet the specific needs of clients. Travelflex has already added anoffice and personal diary to its system, following the requests of one particular agent.

The system is linked to the Amadeus and Galileo global distribution systems. A link is being developed to Sabre which should be ready in two months.
