Airtours acts on complaints after system problems

AIRTOURS has claimed to have made further improvements to its system after agents reported more problems making bookings with the operator.

Frustrated Going Places counter staff from various branches telephoned Travel Weekly to say they were unable to access Airtours through the retailer’s new booking service, Matchmaker.

They complained that they were having to offer an alternative to customers, often First Choice, which was affecting their take-home pay. Airtours is thought to pay Going Places staff up to ú5 per booking, while other operators pay ú2.

The problems follow an earlier systems glitch last month (Travel Weekly January 20).

Airtours Holidays sales and marketing director Ed Sims said:”We know there was a slow-down last week, but we put huge resources behind it and last weekend bookings were 10% up on the same time last year. It’s our priority to sort out problems with our system.”
