EUROCAMP has dropped its new Holidaymaker name following a threat of legal action by Airtours which claimed the branding as its own (Travel Weekly January 6).
The camping specialist unveiled the name before Christmas and planned to use it as its corporate identity. But Eurocamp was forced to delay its introduction after Airtours intervened. It will now call itself Holidaybreak Plc.
Airtours group finance director Tim Byrne said: “Going Places and Airtours are both known as the Holiday Maker. We believed it was inappropriate for Eurocamp to use the name. A deal was reached whereby they will not use the name.”
A Eurocamp spokesman: “We believe we would have won a legal battle but didn’t think the time and expense was worth it.”
