ABTA coverage presents unfair image of hard-working team

THE Upfronts column (Travel Weekly January 27) suggests I feel ABTAis a mess.

The comment is inaccurate and unfair to the team in Newman Street. I believe I outlined my views on how ABTA should be reorganised fairly succinctly in your previous issue.

My comments made no mention of ABTA’s state other than to say it is bureaucratic, with my suggestions for remedying that situation.

ABTA is not in a mess. Anyone who has met chief executive Ian Reynolds will appreciate he is a sound manager.

The 70-odd staff at Newman Street work long and hard. Steven Freudmann is the most enthusiastic and dedicated ABTApresident I have known.

Collectively they ensure the association is well run and well represented to those we need to influence.

The committee and board structures are the areas that need addressing.
