Few Manos staff set to relocate

ONLY a handful of Manos’ 50 staff are expected to relocate to Brighton at the end of April following its acquisition by Airtours (Travel Weekly February 14).

Among the likely casualties is commercial manager Peter Burgess who is believed to be stepping down when the operator moves from its current City of London offices to the south coast. Burgess declined to comment.

Managing director Tony Anaxagorou is also expected to leave at the end of the summer.

Airtours held one-to-one talks with staff last week with most offered roles in Brighton where it will share offices with Airtours-owned Panorama. Some of the positions on offer are thought to be with Panorama but sources say the distance and likely decrease in salary will deter many from relocating.

Airtours will expand Manos’ Greece operation which has remained static for two years. It currently carries around 100,000 to Greece with a further 25,000 split between Turkey and Cyprus. The Helmshore-based operator will also look to expand Manos’ Indian and Sri Lanka programme as well as moving into other long-haul destinations.
