Birmingham-based Horizon Holidays has opened a travel agency and travel money outlet in a Morrisons supermarket.
The company plans dozens more outlets within Morrisons shops and has access to market to the company’s customer loyalty database and more than 100,000 staff.
The flagship agency was opened by managing director Hamza Waris with more than 30 suppliers.
He outlined ambitions to expand to more than 50 branches over the next five to 10 years in connection with the Advantage Managed Services (AMS) scheme run by Advantage Travel Partnership.
A second branch opening within Morrisons with new management additions will be announced soon, according to Horizon.
The consortium’s business development manager Emily Shannon said: “Horizon Holidays is an exciting member with technology at the heart of their concept.
“They are looking at growing significantly in the next few years and I look forward to supporting them and watching them go from strength to strength.”
Consultant retail director Craig Davidson showcased the use of new technologies and social media customers can use to interact with the company in addition to face-to-face branch appointments.
Birmingham airport aviation director Tom Screen said: “Despite various past predictions that their days were numbered, we’re now in 2023 and demand for high-quality travel agents’ services is stronger than ever, especially from customers planning once-in-a-lifetime trips.”
