EasyJet extends suspension of Israel flights

EasyJet has extended the suspension of flights to Tel Aviv until Friday while other carriers from the UK continue to adjust schedules.

The budget airline also advised passengers due to travel to Tel Aviv up until October 21 to keep checking the status of flights before travelling to the airport.

The disruption follows attacks by Hamas at the weekend and reprisals from Israel, with the death toll in Israel reported to have reached 1,200, plus more than 900 people killed in retaliatory air strikes in Gaza.

EasyJet said: “Due to the evolving situation in Israel, we have paused our flight operations to and from Tel Aviv until the 13th of October.

“We will be contacting customers who are due to travel to and from Tel Aviv on these dates, by email and SMS with the details provided at the time of booking and check in.

“Any easyJet flight-only customers whose flights have been cancelled, will be able to request a voucher for the full value of their flight, a refund or transfer their flights free of charge for future travel.”

The carrier added: “If you’re an easyJet holidays customer due to travel up to the 21st of October, we’re offering the option to change your destination with no change fee or cancel your holiday and receive the full holiday cost back as easyJet holidays credit, to book an alternative holiday at a later date.

“If you made your booking through a travel agent, please contact your travel agency for help with your full travel plans. If you need further assistance and your agent is unable to help you, please contact our customer service team. Remember to let your tour operator or travel agent know about any changes you make.”

British Airways and Virgin Atlantic are making schedule changes on Tel Aviv flights from Heathrow with El Al is maintaining services to London.

Virgin Atlantic has cancelled half its London-Tel Aviv schedule until October 28.

The airline said: “Due to the ongoing situation in Israel, some of our flights to and from Tel Aviv may face delays or cancellations.

“The safety and security of our customers and our people always comes first and our flying programme to Israel remains under constant review.

“We would advise anyone booked to travel to check their flight status on the website before travelling to the airport.”

BA said: “We are closely monitoring the situation in Israel and our flights are currently continuing to operate.

“If you are due to travel with us to or from Tel Aviv on a flight up to and including 22 October 2023 but no longer wish to travel, you can change your travel dates free of charge.”

UK residents in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories, including Gaza, are advised to register their presence with the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).

“The FCDO continues to advise against travel to parts of Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories, and to advise against all but essential travel to all other parts, including the Rafah crossing into Egypt,” the latest government travel advice said.

FCDO also continues to advise against all travel to some parts of Lebanon, including the areas south of the Litani River, and advises against all but essential travel to the rest of the country.
