Jet2 flights ‘to depart on time’ in face of general strike in Italy

Jet2 has issued an alert over a nationwide 24-hour general strike in Italy involving both public and private sector workers to coincide with International Women’s Day.

The airline and operator insisted that its Italy flights are due to depart on time despite today’s action.

Rules in Italy prohibit the the involvement in general strikes of workers in the air, rail, maritime and local public transport sectors.

However, rail operator Trenitalia warned that some peak time services could be affected.

Jet2 said in a notice on its website: “We wanted to let you know that industrial strike action is taking place across Italy on 8th March 2024, supported by public and private transport operators in Italy.

“Please allow enough time to travel to the airport as all Jet2.com flights are due to depart on time.

“For Jet2holidays customers who have transfers booked, your pick up times are unaffected.”
