More than 930,000 passengers flew with Norwegian Air in December – a significant year-on-year increase but still “strongly affected” by Covid-19 restrictions.
The Scandinavian carrier said Christmas and New Year flights operated as planned although the capacity “took into account lower demand as a result of the positive infection situation and government-imposed restrictions”.
Geir Karlsen, chief executive of Norwegian, said: “Lower demand was factored into our schedules during Christmas and the New Year weekend, therefore I am pleased to report that load factors are good for December as well.
“We have seen an effect on general demand from the spread of the Omicron virus and the subsequent new measures and restrictions in Scandinavia and abroad.”
The load factor was 71%, compared to 52% in December 2020, when it carried just 129,664 passengers.
