Ryanair forced to cancel 870 flights due to Israel-Gaza conflict

Ryanair was forced to cancel more than 870 flights last month due to the Israel-Gaza conflict, new figures reveal.

Most airlines have suspended services to Tel Aviv, with Ryanair services currently cancelled until Monday (November 6) and budget rivals EasyJet until November 30 and Wizz Air up to November 15.

British Airways flights are suspended until November 14 and Virgin Atlantic until November 21.

Ryanair, which releases first half results on Monday (November 6),  operated 96,700 flights in October with more than 870 grounded after Israel retaliated to the October 7 Hamas attacks that killed 1,400 people.

The airline’s overall passenger numbers rose by 9% year-on-year in the month to 17.1 million, giving an annual rolling total of 180.3 million.

Wizz Air October carryings were up by more than 19% to 5.4 million to give a rolling annual total of 64.1 million.

The eastern and central European low cost carrier said it continues to evaluate the situation on the ground in Israel, with the safety of passengers, employees and aircraft remaining the top priority
