Attraction World eyes international expansion and acquisitions

Attraction World wants to work with more agents in the UK, and also outside the UK in English-speaking countries which have strong agent networks, according to chief executive Olly Nicholls.

He said the group was also looking for acquisitions that “benefit trade partners”.

We already brought OpenPass into the group and once the market and foreign exchange rates stabilize, we will look at further growth through acquisitions. We will continue to bring companies into the AWG group that benefit our trade partners.

He said the new investor was “not in any rush” to grow and flip the company.

“She’s a high network individual. She sees we can solve problems through tech – whether that’s for agents, airlines, cruise companies or tour operators.”

Nicholls said it could be a tough winter with the cost of living crisis impacting demand.

“Nobody knows what the future holds with everything going on. People might cut down on the number of experiences they have on holidays. Not for Florida so much where Disney and Universal are so integral to the holiday so customers will allow for the extra, but elsewhere they might be more cautious.”

But he said Attraction World was building the right team to ensure it can capitalise on all opportunities when the time comes.

Nicholls added that he was also looking at curating ranges of sustainable attractions and LBGTQ-friendly experiences.

“We do them all already but it’s just about badging and sign-posting them better,” he said.
