Blue Bay Travel plans to increase trade engagement with new podcast

Blue Bay Travel has launched a podcast as it tries to boost engagement with partner agents and customers.

The Check-In Desk will be released on the last Wednesday of every month, with the first episode available today (April 26).

The series will cover advice on destinations across the world, as well as “amusing travel tales”.

Co-host Jo Ball, marketing assistant at the agent and operator, said: “We started the podcast as another way to engage with our customers and travel agent partners.”

The show’s other host is Blue Bay content executive Tom Spruce, who described the podcast as a “one-stop shop for holiday highs, lows and where-to-gos”.

Featured locations will span the Caribbean, Indian Ocean, Europe and the Far East.

Each instalment will pick out the top activities in a selected place, with the hosts taking it in turns to create their dream itinerary. The first episode is titled ‘Best Things To Do In Mexico’.

Ball said the hope is to expand the format in the future, allowing the hosts to team up with other brands and travel agents.

She said: “Holiday research is increasingly being conducted via multiple platforms, podcasts being a growing one, so we wanted to create a space where we can share our travel knowledge and expertise in a fun, engaging and easy-to-digest format.

“Initially we will be focusing on delivering that combination of entertainment and education.

“However, in time, we hope to open out the format and collaborate with other brands and travel agents with particular areas of expertise, to showcase even more about the top travel destinations from those in the know.”

Spruce said: “The Check-In Desk is designed to shine a light on every area of memory-making escapes. From the incredible destinations to the hilarious things that happen to us when we’re away.

“The podcast is a perfectly candid one-stop shop for holiday highs, lows and where-to-gos.

“It’s packed to the rafters with insider knowledge, silly stories and shared frustrations.  Where other travel podcasts are the elegant hotel lobby, we’re the fun-filled pool bar.”

The series will be available on all major streaming platforms.
