A team of cyclists from cruise trade body Clia has set a £10,000 fundraising target for the Family Holiday Association.
They will take part in a New Forest charity event on September 19, with a choice of four distances: 156km, 114km, 72km or 17km.
The initial fundraising target of £10,000 will enable about 40 families to take a short break.
So far, 18 riders have signed up to support the cause, but there is space for more to join the team, and participate on the various routes.
Giles Hawke, UK & Ireland chief executive for Cosmos and Avalon Waterways – who has helped organise several events in aid of FHA over the years – has arranged for the team to join the New Forest event this year.
He said: “I’d like to encourage as many people as possible to take part and show their support to Family Holiday Association.
“While we can’t guarantee the weather in the UK, we can guarantee a beautiful part of the country to be in, excellent company and that families facing tough situations will really benefit.”
Andy Harmer, Clia UK director, added: “Clia has been supporting Family Holiday Association since 2016.
“Together, we have raised more than £25,000 to support families in challenging situations.
“We’re delighted to continue our support at such a critical time for so many families across the UK who don’t have access to a break via any other means.”
The route around the New Forest, organised by UK Cycling Events, provides formal marshalling support and safety measures; food stops en route; a finisher’s medal and event photographers.
There is a special Clia discount for entry to the ride and a social media hashtag at #TeamCLIACycle21.
