C&M reports busiest August for new travel job-seekers since 2017

The number of new candidates searching for travel jobs rose year-on-year in August despite summer holiday distractions, according to C&M Travel Recruitment.

The recruitment specialist said job-seeker numbers increased by 19% last month compared to August 2023, to reach the highest total for the month of August since 2017.

However, the total number was down by 11% from July 2024.

August is traditionally the second slowest month of the year for travel recruitment, behind December.

Last month saw a fall in new travel job vacancies, which dipped by 32%, while the number of candidates being placed in new travel jobs fell by 19% from July and by 29% from August 2023.

Barbara Kolosinska, managing director at C&M Travel Recruitment, said: “With many people jetting away to enjoy the end of the summer holidays, August is always one of the quietest months of the year for the travel recruitment market – and 2024 was no exception.

“But there were bright spots to be found, including the highest number of new active job-seekers that we’ve seen in an August for seven years.

“With decision-makers and potential job-seekers now back from holidays and into their normal routines, we’re hopeful of a busier few months – and with August showing strong numbers of applicants, there are certainly many active candidates out there waiting to be snapped up by the right role and company.”

All figures are drawn from the month’s new vacancies advertised with C&M Travel Recruitment.
