Explora II completes sea trials

Explora Journeys’ second ship has successfully completed sea trials ahead of its maiden sailing in August.

The final construction phase of Explora II took place at Fincantieri Shipyard in Italy.

The vessel, which is the second of six ships scheduled to be built by the line in the next four years, will depart on its maiden voyage from Barcelona on August 11.

It will then spend the rest of the summer sailing seven, 14 and 21-night Mediterranean itineraries.

Pierfrancesco Vago, executive chairman of MSC Group’s cruise division, said: “The launch of Explora I last year was the realisation of a long-held family dream to offer guests an unmatched luxury at sea experience.

“Explora II successfully completing her sea trials is the next milestone on our Explora journey.

“In summer 2024, discerning travellers will now have the opportunity to travel on our two ships on carefully curated and combinable itineraries both in the western and eastern Mediterranean, embarking from easy access ports and uncovering hidden gems in lesser travelled destinations.”
