Adventure tour operator Explore has launched a ‘Go Solo & Save’ sale, offering hundreds of holidays with reduced or no single supplements.
The operator said it has seen a surge in solo travellers joining its small group trips, as they now account for 66% of an average group.
Philippa Baines, Explore’s agency sales manager, said: “We’re seeing a sharp increase in solo travel booked through our agent partners.
“Rather than waiting for family, friends or partners to join their next adventure, travellers are seizing the moment, and joining our trips on their own.
“We wanted to launch a sale that was really attractive in the current environment to help our agent partners capture this demand.”
Some of the most popular trips for solo travellers are walking holidays, including Toubkal Climb in Morocco, Walking Albania and Trekking Picos de Europa, in Spain.
Other bestselling itineraries in the sale feature walking along the Amalfi Coast, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, exploring the tropical rainforest of Cost Rica, and visiting the temples and Unesco sites of Vietnam.
There are selected polar expeditions in the promotion, with savings into the thousands of pounds.
Travellers have until March 1 to book their trip and benefit from a discounted single supplement on departures until the end of the year.
Baines added: “September and October are proving to be the most popular travel months for solo travellers, as they take advantage of shoulder season for great weather conditions and prices.”
