Gold Medal breaks its record for calls in single day

Gold Medal has broken its record for the most calls received in a single day amid “phenomenal” growth in demand.

The trade-only operator chalked up its landmark figure on Monday (January 15), when calls were 17% up on the same day last year.

Since the start of peaks, the brand has seen a 22% rise in calls compared with the same period of 2023.

Gold Medal managing director Simon Applebaum (pictured) said: “Last year’s peaks period was really successful for us and so this year-on-year growth is phenomenal.”

On Sunshine Saturday (January 6), the brand broke its record for online bookings and then went on to break it again on Tuesday this week (January 16).

The leading destinations are New York, Dubai and Florida, with the most popular departure period being this summer.

The operator added that Thailand, which was trending throughout 2023, appears to be keeping up momentum. Phuket, Krabi and Ko Samui are the “standout” locations.

Applebaum said: “We’re delighted so many of our trade partners are having such a strong peaks and that they continue to trust dnata and Gold Medal to provide their customers with the highest quality tailor-made holidays.

“Our sales centre colleagues are handling the demand and continue to provide the highest levels of service.”

Dnata Travel Group’s UK B2B portfolio includes Pure Luxury, Cruise Plus and Incredible Journeys in addition to Gold Medal.
