If Only to release app for travel documentation

Tour operator If Only is creating an app so customers can have travel documentation readily accessible on their smartphone.

Printed documents will still be offered to those wishing them, but agents will be able to let customers know about the digital alternative.

If Only general manager Gordon McCreadie said: “We’re trying to give agents as many tools as we can to make the engagement with their customers as seamless as possible. From our point of view, it’s about helping agents to add value.”

Development of the app started last week, McCreadie said. He added that it will be possible to add pictures and videos so travellers can take a virtual tour of their hotel and excursions.

“As far as we’re aware, we believe we’re the first B2B operator that will provide this type of technology,” McCreadie said.

As well as the app, the operator is also set to roll out new biodegradable wallets to hold physical documents for high-value trips.

The wallets, which will have a “luxury feel and look”, are set to be distributed from next week.
