Inverness Travel renamed Murray Travel in group rebrand

Inverness Travel has unveiled its new look after rebranding its flagship store to Murray Travel.

The travel agency announced plans for the rebrand in the summer to reflect its expansion across the Highlands and Moray following its takeover of Beaver and Alba Travel earlier this year.

It has now rebranded its 2,500 square foot Inverness Travel shop in Strothers Lane in Inverness.

It will roll the brand out to new stores in Elgin and Forres once premises have been found. The group’s takeover of Beaver Travel in April did not include the agency’s existing premises in Elgin and Forres.

Director Scott Murray, who runs Murray Travel with wife Sarah, said: “When we took over Alba Travel and Beaver Travel, and committed to maintaining a presence in Elgin and Forres, we quickly realised we had outgrown the Inverness Travel brand.

“We are no longer a company serving only the Highland capital and we need a name that reflects that larger footprint.

“The new Murray Travel brand represents the family values that run throughout everything we do. As a family-run business – and one that values the relationships we build in our communities – we want our customers to know that we will take good care of their holiday arrangements, as we would for any member of our family.”

Its Inverness ‘travel boutique’ store opened in 2020 and is designed to create a luxury experience, combining the look and feel of an airport lounge and a hotel lobby. It has a sofa and bar seating area instead of desks and brochure racks, and clients are offered a drink from the free bar on arrival.

The group says its other new branches will follow a similar format.

Murray added: “When we started our business seven years ago, we could never have foreseen the challenges we would face – but the strength and dedication of our team has meant we have come out of the Covid pandemic stronger than ever.

“We’re now in a position to offer even more people expert travel advice, and to help organise unforgettable trips around the world for those looking to travel.”

Murray Travel was established in 2014 by the couple, who also co-founded Wanderluxe, a homeworking agency based in Sawbridgeworth. Scott Murray is also managing director of Highland hospitality group Cru Holdings.
