Ocean Holidays reports record Easter for Florida travel

Florida specialist Ocean Holidays has reported the busiest Easter in its 19-year history, with bookings for the state up 65% on the same period in 2019.

The company also reported average booking values £1,500 higher than for the equivalent period pre-pandemic.

It said the increase in booking values was partly driven by the growing popularity of twin-centre holidays, as well as a 10% increase against 2019 in villa bookings, which now equate for 35% of total sales.

Last year, the company revealed plans to increase package sales through the trade.

Harry Hastings, co-chief executive, said: “We’re seeing Brits flock in their droves to longer-haul destinations such as Florida, seemingly making up for lost time following a heavily disrupted two-year period.

“We’ve seen an incredible 65% uptick in bookings to the state, and as a result this is our busiest Easter period to date.”

Hastings added the company had used the pandemic hiatus to improve its way of working and customer service.

“Over the pandemic we’ve looked at ways to optimise the customer experience, by evolving how our staff work,” he said.

“Customers now can check into their villa online, and head straight there from the flight, something that was not possible before.

“All of our staff are trained in concierge services, so that when in Florida customers can speak to one of the Ocean Holidays team locally 24 hours a day.”
