Three graduates have been offered roles with Latin Routes after completing their month-long training programme with the Latin America specialist tour operator.
The salaried trainee programme was launched in the summer, aimed at those with little or no experience who want to get into the travel industry.
Possible entrants include university graduates but the scheme is also open to other industry staff looking for a new opportunity, including travel agents.
After receiving many applications, Latin Routes hired three graduates, and Jess Dennison, co-founder and head of trade relations said she was “delighted” their progress.
“After a month of intensive classroom-based training, they’ve been out to visit several agents including Swords Travel, to better understand how travel agents work,” said Dennison.
“We feel this is invaluable experience in relationship-building and networking as well as gaining a wider understanding of how our trade partners operate.”
Julia Ross, Latin Routes travel specialist trainee, commented: “Mark [Swords] and the guys at Swords Travel were brilliant.
“As someone who is new to the industry, it was a great opportunity to hear from the team at Swords about how travel agents can work with us to create memorable holidays for clients and on the importance of building a relationship with the agents we work with.”
