Abercrombie & Kent is to build a new riverboat to sail on the Nile in Egypt.
Construction os the 32-cabin vessel has started at an Egyptian shipyard with completion expected in autumn 2025.
The luxury operator aims to launch the bespoke ship in late 2025, expanding its Nile fleet to five.
A&K already operates the Nile Adventurer, Sun Boat III, Sun Boat IV and Zein Nile Chateau on the river.
The name of the new Nile riverboat, which will also be available for private charters, will be revealed in the coming months, according to the company.
A&K has a longstanding relationship with the Nile, which dates back to 1977 when founder Geoffrey Kent, inspired by an encounter with actor David Niven on the set of the film Death on the Nile, launched the company’s first Nile river cruise.
A&K Travel Group chief executive Cristina Levis said: “Nobody knows Egypt better than Abercrombie & Kent.
“We pioneered luxury Nile cruises more than four decades ago, and every year we continue to further elevate this enchanting voyage, with extraordinary experiences at every stage of the journey, accompanied by Egyptologists and storytellers to bring Egypt’s luminous history to life.”
