Asia specialist rejoins Aito with pledge to build rapport with agents

Central and south-east Asia operator Indus Experiences aims to build new relationships with specialist travel agents by rejoining the Association of Independent Tour Operators (Aito).

The drive to strengthen commitment to the UK travel trade comes as the company marks its third decade in business.

Indus Experiences was previously a member of Aito from 2008 to 2013.

The family-run operator covers India, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Indochina, Oman and Uzbekistan.

Indus also offers river cruises, rail journeys and small group tours designed in keeping with its ethos of sustainability and giving back to local communities.

Marketing director Asiya Zargar said: “We are delighted to reaffirm our partnership with Aito and our commitment to the highest travel industry standards.

“Indus Experiences is fully aligned with Aito’s quality charter credentials and dedicated to promoting sustainable tourism initiatives.

“We are especially looking forward to working more closely with Aito specialist travel agents, taking part in Aito events, working alongside other member organisations and sharing our passion for tailor-made travel in Asia.”

Zargar added: “From small beginnings as an India specialist, we are now entering our 30th year in business with an exciting and original portfolio throughout central and south-east Asia. We look forward to our next chapter in partnership with Aito.

“Although we are still very much a small, family-run company, in recent years we have expanded and hugely diversified our product offering. At this point in time, Aito membership makes perfect sense.

“The pandemic saw a seismic shift, with thousands of trained and experienced travel agents leaving the industry. It’s great to see so many enthusiastic newcomers arriving on the scene and now is the perfect time to tap into that buzz, support them and help them build their destination knowledge and skills.

“Rejoining Aito is part of a raft of trade support initiatives that we’re currently undertaking. To help our trade partners gain more insight into the destinations we cover, we’ve also launched a training programme via the online travel training platform, with over 130 course passes in the last couple of months.”

Aito executive director Martyn Sumners added: “Aito is there to champion and support SME travel businesses, and we are thrilled to welcome back Indus Experiences into the Aito family.

“Their commitment to sustainability and quality aligns with Aito’s mission, and we believe their expertise will greatly benefit our specialist travel agents and enhance the travel experiences they offer to travellers.”
