Costa ship transferred to Carnival Cruise Line

The ship Luminosa has been transferred to Carnival Cruise Line from Italian sister brand Costa.

The renamed Carnival Luminosa is due to make its debut for the US line sailing from Brisbane in Australia on November 6.

The 2,826-passenger ship was handed over in Palermo ahead of its planned re-entry into service in two months’ time.

A sister ship to four other Spirit-class vessels in the Carnival fleet, Carnival Luminosa will operate seasonal itineraries from Australia until April 2023 when it will reposition to start Alaska sailings from Seattle next May.

Company president Christine Duffy said: “Carnival Luminosa is such an added benefit to our Fun Ship family with her unique itineraries and onboard specialties.

“Combining favourites from our fleet and our wonderful crew with some of Luminosa’s own fun features, this ship will surely feel like home to our guests in no time.”
