Covid-safe hotels showcased by new booking website

Covid-safe holiday accommodation is being showcased by a new online travel site.

RightRooms.co claims to put confidence back into travellers by highlighting steps that hotels are taking “to soothe the worries of the Covid-anxious”.

The hotel booking website has been created by social entrepreneur Fiona Halton, also a former co-director of Red Nose Day, ahead of hotels across England finally due to reopen on May 17 as part of the government’s roadmap out of lockdown.

It features more then 100 hotels, with more being added.

But VisitBritain research has shown that concerns about catching Covid still hamper consumer confidence in booking a trip away.

Halton said: “Even when more of us are vaccinated, the signs are that Covid-anxiety will remain an issue this year for both travellers and hotels.

“The real story is that hotel booking is going granular – and RightRooms is finally giving travellers the sort of details that many travellers want but can’t find elsewhere. Covid-safety is just the start.”

Travellers concerned about Covid safety will be able to identify hotels that offer answers to questions such as:

  • Do room windows open?
  • Is there a one-way system in place?
  • Do staff wear masks when preparing food?
  • Are keys sanitised?
  • What cleaning solutions are used?
  • Is there a Covid-related cancellation policy?

As well as hotel booking, users can read Covid-relevant travel guides to UK destinations and science-based articles about the Covid-safer features included.

RightRooms will eventually turn its attention to other details, such as accessibility, sustainability and child-friendly accommodation.
