Interim heads have been appointed to oversee the Visit USA Association (UK) following the death of former chair Sarah Lax in July.
Jonathan Sloan, executive vice president at travel marketing firm MMGY Global has been elected as chair and Julie Greenhill, director at Greg Evans Consultancy, as vice chair until next March by the board of directors.
Both were serving as board directors of Visit USA (UK) prior to the elections. Sloan previously served as chair of the association from 2013 to 2017.
Chief executive Tracey Spuyman said: “These have been a challenging few weeks for those close to Sarah Lax but we know she would want us to look forward and make sure that the future of Visit USA (UK) was in strong hands during this important period for the global travel market.
“Jonathan and Julie will be working with the board and Visit USA members to make sure that the USA has a strong voice when travel from the UK resumes.”
The organisation is hosting its first live and in-person event since the start of the pandemic on September 1., The Visit USA Summer Affair is being held in place of last year’s Independence Day Ball.
The association’s next general meeting will take place virtually on September 9.
