JG Travel Group expands Scotland programme following high demand

JG Travel Group has introduced a Voyage of Vikings tour and added new departure dates as part of an expansion of its Scotland programme.

The additions, on the back of high demand, can be booked by agents through the group’s Just Go Holidays and National Holidays tour operator brands.

The new six-day Vikings tour explores the Shetland Islands and their Vikings heritage. Highlights include a day touring the second largest island, Yell, and the most northernly inhabited island Unst, which has the world’s largest concentration of Viking longhouses.

There is also a full day exploring the main island of Shetland with visits to Scalloway, Jarlshof, Sumburgh and Lerwick.

The Voyage of Vikings tour costs from £949, and departs on September 19 and October 3, 2024. The price includes return coach travel, two full days exploring the islands and visits to Loch Lomond and Edinburgh, five nights half board accommodation, of which two are overnight ferries, and excursions.

The operator has also doubled departures for its Great Scottish Highland Railways coach breaks from four to eight dates after the original dates sold out. New dates now on sale are August 25, September 15 and 19, and October 3.

The tour showcases the best of the highlands, offering trips on the Kyle Railway Line, the Strathspey Steam Railway through the Cairngorms National Park, and the Jacobite Steam Train, crossing the 100ft-high Glenfinnan Viaduct featured in the Harry Potter films.

Three new departures have been added for the eight-day Hebridean Adventure by air. These are August 10, September 6 and October 5, 2024. The tour to the Outer Hebrides includes the isles of Skye, Lewis and Barra.

Trade sales manager Claire Dutton said: “Such has been the demand for Scotland that we’ve had to create new tours and add additional capacity onto existing ones so agents can keep selling them. Exploring the wilder more rugged areas is clearly appealing to customers and these itineraries make it easy to visit some of the most remote parts of Scotland and see just what makes them so incredible.”
