Travel meta-search site Sidestep.com plans to expand its online distribution through partnership deals after its US parent raised £7.6 million funding.
Launched in the UK in September last year, Sidestep uses a cost-per-acquisition model instead of the more common cost-per-click system, which makes the site more like a traditional commission-based agent since it does not earn revenue for every lead it generates.
Sidestep already appears on the websites of mobile phone supplier Orange and travel information provider OAG, and European managing director Kevin Eyres said the increased funding would be used to secure similar deals.
“We are targeting a number of sites that might wish to add a travel search facility,” he said. “We have a couple of deals in sight and want to secure a few more.”
