More than four out of 10 online consumers would book an easyJet package holiday according to a survey out this week.
Travel trade research and consultancy company Radar found 41% of 417 respondents who visited the easyJet.co.uk site would be happy to book through easyJet Holidays – almost double the 24% who said they would consider booking before visiting the site.
Launched last week, easyJet Holidays offers 10,000 hotel rooms supplied by First Choice Holidays’ sister company Hotelopia.
Radar research associate Jeanne Lally said the survey showed the company had to be taken seriously as a rival to the trade, pointing out 23% of those polled said they were aware before taking part that easyJet now sells packages.
Lally said: “It is a wake-up call for agents – easyJet is in a strong position.”
She added that the airline has a high level of brand awareness and offers many departures from regional airports.
EasyJet plans a national advertising campaign for the site.
