Emirates is doubling the amount of free Wi-Fi usage for economy class passengers while expanding availability for frequent flyers.
Passengers in economy class are being offered 20MB of free data usage within the first two hours of log in, double the current 10MB free being offered.
Platinum and gold members of the airline’s Skywards loyalty scheme can access free unlimited Wi-Fi, regardless of their class of travel.
This also applies to Skywards members travelling in first and business class.
Additional data can be purchased in 150MB or 500MB blocks leading in at $4.99 and $7.99 respectively.
The airline says the doubling to 20MB of free data will suit passengers who are light Wi-Fi users looking to send short messages to family and friends, or to check their social media accounts.
Vice president and chief operations officer, Adel Al Redha, said: “Wi-fi services are available on over 200 of our aircraft, and it is a service that Emirates continues to subsidise heavily.
“Our new in-flight wi-fi plans reflect Emirates’ commitment to continue providing this as a free service for as many customers as possible, especially to our most frequent flyers.”
