Barrhead Travel is to expand into Northern Ireland for the first time.
A “state-of-the-art experience store” will open in Victoria Square, Belfast, in December, creating up to 12 new job roles.
The agency says “the latest travel display technology” will be installed, including virtual reality headsets that “transport customers to their chosen destination before they have even left the ground”.
Glasgow-based Barrhead Travel already has a network of 70 travel agency stores, business travel offices and contact centres. The company says it chose Belfast to meet the growing customer demand for specialist advice and financial protection when booking holidays in the area.
Sharon Munro, chief executive of Barrhead Travel, said: “We are very excited to be opening our first Barrhead Travel store in Belfast. It is a brilliant city and we saw its potential as a location to expand our award-winning travel services.
“We are currently on the lookout out for talented travel specialists with a flair for customer service as well as foreign exchange consultant to join our newly recruited store manager who has a wealth of experience in the travel industry.
“Barrhead Travel’s reputation for staff development is second to none, and as we grow in Belfast we will be also creating opportunities for Modern Apprentices.
“Our people are our business, which is why we invest so heavily in training programmes for each member of our team.”
