Royal Caribbean International is poised to reveal details of its new Perfect Day private islands in Asia.
President and chief executive Michael Bayley said the line was currently in negotiations over “several” islands in Asia-Pacific and is hoping to announce the locations and features in July.
Perfect Day at CocoCay, the first destination in the collection to be announced, is a $200 million transformation of the cruise line’s existing private island in the Bahamas. It will roll out in phases starting in September.
The island features a 13-slide waterpark; the Caribbean’s largest freshwater pool, Oasis Lagoon; a 1,600-foot zip line and a helium balloon which floats up to 450 feet above the ground, and over-the-water cabanas for overnight stays.
Some activities and spaces are paid for, such as the Thrill Waterpark, Bayley said.
The new islands in Asia are planned to be operational by 2022, according to Bayley.
“(The private islands) are a natural progression for us. Adding this to itineraries enhances guest satisfaction and it’s a major point of difference that we can offer this,” Bayley said.
