Warner Leisure Hotels has invested £50 million in its first new property for more than 15 years.
In 2018, Brits are expected to spend £129 billion on the leisure industry, a 17% increase compared to five years ago, with further growth predicted, according to Mintel’s Holiday review of the UK.
In response, the hotel chain has made the 209-room Studley Castle Hotel in Warwickshire its 14th property.
Upwards of £26 million has been spent on restoring the castle and reinstating original features. The remaining £24 million has been invested into modernising aspects of the building, including a new live music venue, making this the largest investment ever from, Warner’s parent company which is also behind Butlin’s and Haven.
Simon Thompson, managing director of Warner Leisure Hotels, said: “Studley Castle signals a significant investment in the start of an exciting new era for Warner. We have a unique proposition in the market and Studley is set to support our growth in helping us become more relevant to existing and new audiences.”
The hotel will open in March 2019. A two-night stay starts from £219 per person.
