Spotlight: The MSC Cup returns to Stamford Bridge this May

The MSC Cup returns to Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge stadium this May – and you could be taking part.

Travel’s finest footballing talent will return to Chelsea FC’s Stamford Bridge stadium in May for the second MSC Cup in aid of industry charity Reuben’s Retreat.

The tournament, which is organised by MSC Cruises through its sponsorship of Chelsea FC and is run in partnership with Travel Weekly, has been expanded from eight teams to 16 for its second year.

Once again, teams from a range of travel companies will battle it out in the competition on May 26, with the aim of raising more than £40,000 for Reuben’s Retreat through entry fees and sponsorship.

Antonio Paradiso, UK and Ireland managing director of MSC Cruises, said: “MSC Cruises is delighted to host the MSC Cup for the second year running and to once again be supporting Reuben’s Retreat. Our partnership with this fantastic charity began just over a year ago and we are so proud of what we have achieved so far.”

He added: “There is always more that needs doing which is why for the 2020 MSC Cup we will be inviting twice as many teams to participate and raising twice the funds raised to help Nicola and the team to continue helping families in need.

“We are so proud to partner with Reuben’s Retreat and invite you all to get involved. May the best team win.”

Nicola Graham, founder of Reuben’s Retreat, said: “Our vision is all about creating memories.

“For families whose time together may be short, this is so important.

“And for families that continue to live and love after loss, holding on to those memories is part of their survival story and their healing.

“We like to think that our fundraising events echo our values and we take this into account when planning them, so the second MSC Cup arranged by MSC Cruises in conjunction with Travel Weekly is pitched perfectly.”

She added: “Thank you in advance to everyone involved in this unique and exciting day for being part of #reubensjourney and a huge heartfelt thank you to our wonderfully supportive friends at MSC Cruises.”

Stuart Parish, Travel Weekly managing director, said: “The partnership with MSC Cruises on the inaugural MSC Cup was a real highpoint of 2019 and we are delighted to be teaming up again for an even bigger and better tournament in 2020.

“Travel Weekly has a long history of supporting Reuben’s Retreat through our events and print portfolio, so there couldn’t be a more fitting cause for us to be backing with this fantastic event.”
