First female chair of Business Travel Association steps down after six years

Business Travel Association chair Suzanne Horner has resigned from the role after almost six years.

The corporate travel body confirmed that its first female chair had stepped down due to ongoing commitments as chief executive of the Gray Dawes Group.

Mervyn Williamson, director of Corporate Travel Management UK and current BTA officer and treasurer, will step in as interim chair until September while the organisation undergoes a formal process to appoint a new chair.

A BTA statement said: “We can confirm that Suzanne Horner has stepped down as chair of the BTA board.

“As BTA chair, Suzanne has been an exceptional leader and dedicated advocate for the business travel sector throughout her nearly six-year tenure, having been appointed in 2019.

“We extend our sincerest thanks for her unwavering support during her time as BTA chair and wish her and all at Gray Dawes Travel the best in their future endeavours.”

Horner said: “Being the first female chair of the BTA was both an honour and a privilege and looking back over the past six years.

“I am extremely proud of how the board and I have driven an inclusive and diverse environment for all and I am confident that the BTA will continue strongly going forward.

“With the continued growth of Gray Dawes Travel I have chosen to fully concentrate my considerable efforts on the company.”
