Dawson & Sanderson to file restated accounts after auditor resignation

Northeast agency Dawson & Sanderson will file restated accounts at Companies House “in the coming weeks” after an “individual error” with its previous filing.

Chris Harrison, managing director at Dawson & Sanderson, said in a statement: “An internal review revealed an individual error resulted in the filing of accounts at Companies House when they had not been formally approved.

“When the board and I became aware of this error we took immediate action and set in place measures to ensure that the correct process will always be followed in the future.

“In recent months we have appointed a new financial director along with new auditors.

“There are no irregularities or discrepancies in the accounts. Our restated accounts will be available at Companies House in the coming weeks.”

Documents filed at Companies House show that previous finance director Alistair Cormack resigned on April 11, and Annelene Hutton was appointed to the post on the same date.

Companies House documents also include a letter from auditors Greaves Grindle saying the accountancy firm did not sign off the agency’s accounts.

The letter from Greaves Grindle – dated March 22, 2022, and signed by Jane Harvey – outlines the reason for the firm’s resignation, saying: “It has come to our attention that the company has filed at Companies House financial statements for the year ended 31st August 2020 which include an auditors’ report purporting to be signed by me; however, this firm has not carried out any such audit on the accounts for the year ended 31st August 2020, and I have not signed the filed report.”

Companies House filings also show that the previous accounting period has been extended from August 31, 2021, to February 28, 2022.

Founded in 1962, Dawson & Sanderson has 21 branches in the northeast and offers holidays departing from Newcastle, Doncaster, Humberside, Manchester airports.
