Revells Travel appoints director as part of two-year expansion

A luxury travel agency in Kent has hired a second member of staff as part of a two-year growth plan to build the business.

Michael Weight (pictured, right) will join Revells Travel next week as a director, with the view to become a partner in the next two years. Weight will be responsible for bringing in new sales as well as assisting in other areas of the business such as marketing and operations.

Weight has 16 years’ experience in the travel industry, specialising in luxury, tailormade and corporate travel. He spent 15 years at agency DialAFlight and most recently worked for independent luxury agency Your Travel Group.

Revells Travel founder Jamie Revell (pictured, left) has known Weight for more than 25 years. The pair, who met at school, had initially planned to go into business together when Revells Travel was founded in 2018, but it didn’t come to fruition.

Though two associates joined the Headcorn-based business for a short period of time prior to the pandemic, Revell has largely worked on his own for the last four years.

He said: “It’s the right time for [Weight] to dive in and start something new with me. He’s got the prospect of growing it with me – that’s our aim together – and ultimately become a partner of the business within the next couple of years.

“He’s very good at sales and has lots of experience in all different areas worldwide so he’ll bring a lot to the business.”

Weight added: “I’m thrilled to be joining Revells Travel. To be appointed director of an established luxury travel company within an industry I’m so passionate about is a fantastic step in my own career development and a reflection of the success of the business to date. We have exciting plans for growth and I look forward to what the future holds.”

Revells Travel has seen record levels of turnover and profit in the last four months.

The US continues to be a key market for the business, with demand also surging in areas like the Maldives and the Seychelles.

The agency aims to have a team of five by the end of 2024, with Revell open to hiring both associates on a commission structure and full-time members of staff.

Honeymoons and corporate travel are two areas Revell would like to focus more on, with a “key objective” being to attend more events.

“There are things that we haven’t been able to do when it was just me that we’ll be able to start putting more attention into now, like the honeymoon exhibition that we attended a few years ago prior to Covid,” Revell said.

“Our key objective is to get to these high-spending events and try and get a good bit of corporate business in at the same time as the luxury leisure side.”

He added: “[Weight and I] both have a real vested interest in building the business up.”
