Dennis: ‘create new companies’

Agents told ‘benefit from high-tech age’

BUSINESS travel agents should launch their own dot com companies in light of the Internet boom, technology expert Peter Dennis told the GBTA.

Dennis, head of the UK Internet strategy consulting division of Pan-European Web agency FI System Group, said agents should branch out and benefit from the high-tech age.

“You should all consider creating new companies – new dot com spin offs of your own organisations,” he said. “By 2001 that market will grow substantially.”

He said agents could use their strong brand names to get ahead of the game.

“Many dot coms are unknown brands and will not win,” said Dennis. “You already have the brands and you need to thrive on them. Supplier-branded Web sites will flourish.”
