Agents told to capitalise on personal touch
AGENTS can cash in from customers’ lack of confidence of booking over the Internet, Urbanweb managing director Steve Endacott told delegates.“More than 75% of people who shop on-line put product into a basket and then abandon it,” he said.
“They can’t see or touch what they are buying. Advantage can provide the ‘walk’ element for people who source the Internet for information but want personal contact.”
He said in an age of technology, agents have a better opportunity to keep in contact with customers.
“People only think about travel twice a year. We need to talk to them every week,” he said. “Everyone talks about customer databases but does anyone actually use them?”
He described digital TV as a “nasty competitor”.
“It can tell you things a brochure can’t,” said Endacott.
