n jericho opens gets five-star property


The Inter-Continental Jericho will open as the city’s first five-star hotel. It will be the second hotel in the West Bank for Bass Hotels and Resorts, which manages the Inter-Continental chain. The Jericho property will have 184 deluxe rooms, including 14 junior suites, all with views of the mountains. It will also have a Club Inter-Continental floor and lounge and a fully equipped business centre.


n melia madrid finishes £2.5m renovation


The Melia Madrid, in Calle Princesa, has officially been awarded five stars following a £2.5m renovation programme. The work included a new façade, decoration of the public areas and all of the hotel’s 265 guestrooms. Jacuzzis were installed in the hotel’s five suites and improvements made to the Trinidad discotheque and Don Pepe restaurant. The hotel has been renamed the Melia Madrid Princesa following the renovation.


n peninsula hong kong offers spa packages


The Peninsula Hong Kong is offering a choice of one and two-night spa packages. The Peninsula Escape and The Peninsula Body and Soul packages include transfers, accommodation, breakfast, lunch at The Spa, shampoo and set at the hotel’s salon, full use of spa facilities and a series of body treatments. They cost £708 for two people for one night and £1,075 for two nights and are valid until September 30 2001, subject to a 10% service charge and 3% government tax.
