n cosmos tipped to buy balkan holidays


Cosmos is believed to be closing in on Balkan Holidays after managing director Nigel Wright revealed he is in acquisition talks with a short-haul specialist. Balkan Holidays specialises in Bulgaria and Romania and is targeting carryings of 40,000 this year. It also runs a ski programme.


n ABTAruns series of service fee seminars


ABTA is to hold four service-fee seminars for leisure agents at the end of June. Canadian fees specialist Nolan Burris will speak at the British Airways-sponsored events which are at the Le Meridien Hotel, Heathrow Airport on June 27; Atlantic Suite, Manchester Airport on June 28; the Moat House Hotel in York on June 29; and ABTA’s Newman Street offices in London on June 30. Cadogan Holidays managing director Gary David is going head to head with Chris Kirker for the chairmanship of the Campaign for Real Travel Agents. David said the organisation has no teeth and needs fresh ideas. The chairman will be elected later this month.


n galileo launches booking product


Galileo has launched acut-price booking product aimed at low-cost airlines that want to sell seats through agents. The Basic Booking Product is designed to appeal to carriers that only operate one type of aircraft, offer limited single-class services and have a simple point-to-point network of destinations.
