Cameron to oversee role of franchise carriers in BA group
BRITISHAirways is placing greater emphasis on the use of franchise carriers by creating a new position to oversee their role in the BA group.Jim Cameron takes up the post of franchise manager UK business this Thursday at BA’s Waterside headquarters in Heathrow.
Cameron said he would be focusing on improving the products offered by the franchise airlines.
“I will be looking at several key areas such as product consistency and value for money,” he said.
Cameron stressed the importance placed by BA on franchise carriers including British Regional Airlines, Maersk Air and Loganair having an open and reciprocal relationship with the major airline.
Cameron moves from the post of general manager strategic projects at BA subsidiary Brymon Airways. He has also been a commercial manager with BA Regional in Manchester and Birmingham and a vice-president sales and services for BA in the US.
His appointment comes as BA looks to switch unprofitable short-haul routes on to franchises and subsidiaries so it can concentrate on long-haul services.
