New York launches short-stay itineraries for city and state
NEW YORK has launched a series of suggested short-stay tours that include both the city and the state.Deputy commissioner for the New York State Division of Tourism, Katherine Loucks said: “New York State is divided into 11 regions, each with their own character and attractions, and we want more operators to add these into their programmes.
“These include the beaches of Long Island; the historic mansions of Hudson Valley; the Catskill Mountains for outdoor activities; Finger Lakes; and the Greater Niagara region.
“Aside from New York City being the centre for culture, entertainment and shopping, we have great outdoor activities along the Appalachian Trail, countryside tours through quaint villages and wine trails in the Finger Lakes area.
“There are also 400 golf courses in the state, as well as whale-watching, factory outlet shopping and top fishing in the Thousand Islands Seaway.”
Loucks said the division of tourism is also flagging the use of New York’s secondary gateways of Niagara Falls, Buffalo, Rochester and Albany for visitors already travelling in the US and who plan to include the state in their itinerary.
