Festival plans dual brand fleet

New features include an English pub, a conference centre seating up to 200 people, a golf simulator and a climbing wall.

The 1,500-passenger ship will have 132 mini-suites with balconies – a far higher proportion than the 1,200-passenger Mistral, which has only 80.

European Vision will begin carrying out seven-day cruises from July 1 next year, departing Genoa and visiting Greece and Turkey.

Meanwhile, Festival has appointed Nick Wilkinson as northern sales manager. He replaces Helen Deegan, who has joined Holiday Hypermarkets.

FESTIVAL Cruises has announced plans to promote its fleet under two separate brand names – Discovery and Premium.

In the company’s 2001 brochure, which is due out next month, Bolero, Azur and Flamenco will be marketed under the Discovery name. Mistral, launched last summer, and European Vision, which is scheduled to join the fleet next July, will be branded Premium.

UK managing director Graham Smith said: “Bolero, Azur and Flamenco are all destination-oriented whereas the other ships, because they are new, will have more of a resort element.”

He explained that for 2001, Azur would be positioned in Egypt and Israel, Flamenco in northern Europe and the Canaries, and Bolero in the western Mediterranean.

Festival unveiled details of its forthcoming European Vision vessel at a keel-laying ceremony held in St Nazaire in France last week.
