n virgin’s profits dropVirgin Atlantic has predicted a big drop in profits for 1999/2000 due to a poor summer and high fuel prices. Chairman Sir Richard Branson has revealed the figure will be way below the £99m profit achieved last year. Analysts suggest around £50m.

Holiday Autos has announced a shake-up in its top management promoting Brian Farrugia from group commercial director to chief operating officer. Former group managing director Mick Shires will become group operations director and commercial director Simon Terry will take over from Farrugia with the new title of group purchasing director.
n ABTA grants leeway
ABTA is giving dot coms six months to get their house in order before its code of conduct is enforced.
The code of conduct was recently revised to regulate Web sites, interactive TV, mobile phones with Internet access, CD-ROMS and e-mail. It enables members to use the Government’s TrustUK symbol on Web sites (Travel Weekly April 17).
