Travel House move causes five job losses

THOMSON-owned Travel House has relocated the back-office functions of Callers Pegasus to Swansea which has led to five redundancies.

The move is believed to have led to savings of £250,000. Travel House has also sold Callers’ Newcastle-based flight-only division, Courtney Air Savers, to its general manager David Ellis and administration manager Barry Harding for an undisclosed sum.

Two non-travel retail shops, which were part of the Callers Pegasus portfolio, have also been off-loaded.

Speaking at the Institute of Travel and Tourism conference in Las Vegas, Travel House managing director Martin Morgan said: “We have three strong brands in Travel House, Sibbald and Callers Pegasus and want to concentrate on these core businesses. It makes sense to have all the back-office functions such as accounts and administration in one office.”

Sibbald Travel’s head office has already been closed and relocated to South Wales.
