New guides to raise sales
EUROTUNNEL is publishing a new series of guides in conjunction with French local tourist boards designed to encourage people to travel on the shuttle.A Discover Lille and the Nord guide has just been released, with details of what to see in the city and places to stay, along with sections on the region’s key areas. Brochures on Flanders and Seine-Maritime were launched this month, while a guide to the Belgian coast will come out by the end of the year.
Managing director Bill Dix said:”Short breaks are the key area we want to stimulate by working with short-break and ski operators and the tourist boards.
Travel is also encouraged through a Points Plus scheme, where passengers can earn points in selected Calais restaurants, at Carrefour hypermarket in the shopping centre Cite Europe and for booking tickets. Points can be redeemed against travel on Eurotunnel. The operator also has its own Motoring Holidays short-breaks programme, operated by Cresta. Dix said bookings from the brochure, supported by the trade, will be up 50% this year.
