David: change or I quit

LUNN Poly managing director Nigel David has threatened to quit unless the industry ends its price obsession.

He insisted he will leave in two years if the public is still being lured with huge discounts.

“If we are not out of this price-driven circle in two years time, I’ll be out of here,” said David. “It will be a thankless task and I will not want to be any part of it.”

His views follow those of First Choice chief executive Peter Long, who said the industry is destroying itself with the level of discounting (Travel Weekly June 26).

David said he intends to take a lead in hauling the market away from price. “Of course it will be difficult but I believe we have the product to do it,” he said. “By adding value there will be no need to slash prices.”
