Up in the air: the Skytrain service provides an easy way around the Thai capital
TATon track to promote Bangkok for 2001
THAILAND is to switch the focus of its advertising campaign to Bangkok for 2001, following the launch of the city’s overhead light railway.UK marketing manager for the Tourism Authority of Thailand Chris Lee said the campaign, to be launched in October, would push the attractions of the Thai capital.
“Thailand’s beaches will still be an important part of our campaign, but the launch of the new Skytrain has given people a reason to reconsider visiting Bangkok and we want to get this message across to the consumers.”
The Skytrain, which links 50 hotels with many of the city’s major tourist attractions and shopping areas, has made it easier to travel around the traffic-choked city, said Lee.
TAT is also launching a CD-ROM in September, providing photographs for free use by any company promoting Thailand.
Meanwhile, Tradewinds and Thai Airways are running a promotion with BlockbusterVideo to coincide with the video release of the film The Beach. Customers renting the video will have the chance to win a holiday in Thailand.
